The waistband on these was really thick so I cut it off which led me into the idea of zipped shoulder bag style. When I make my sideways turned boho bags where I just cut off the entire top I make one bag per jeans. But that is a bigger bag. Doing them this way, using the fancy side as a front and plain part of the leg or the back I can get 2 bags per jean.
It does take longer to sew but my bag skills are improving. I still have issues at ends of zippers when turning. I added longer tabs at zipper ends but then went back and boxed the corner. May just do that from beginning of projects involving zipper tops.
I also make decisions as I cut and sew some jeans, see how the cut pieces lay out. These are from adult womens jeans. Some are pretty hippy. I test out things like placing the slightly rounded side seam in the middle especially works for a hobo style bag. Or I trim the rounded side straight.
I also rounded the bottom on these and made 4 darts at outside edge and in lining. I have just sewn square and boxed corners but these seemed to want to be this style.
